Where's the learning with AI?
Complete the State of AI Survey for Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky
When people ask me, "Where is the learning when you’re using AI?" I always respond with a smile because, in the last few years, I’ve learned more than I had in the previous 12. Yes, more. I’ve discovered that collaborating with AI has opened doors to new ways of thinking, faster problem-solving, and a whole new level of creativity I couldn't access on my own.
Here’s what’s so different—and so powerful—about learning with AI:
It’s Like Having a Thought Partner 24/7
AI doesn’t replace my skills; it enhances them. Every time I brainstorm with AI, I get new angles and fresh perspectives. Whether I’m tackling complex strategies, thinking through content, or breaking down big projects, AI adds layers of insight. I ask questions like, “What else should I consider?” and instantly get new ideas that prompt me to think differently and explore options I might never have considered. It’s a continuous loop of learning and iteration.
AI Helps Me Refine, Prioritize, and Simplify
AI doesn’t just throw information at me; it helps me organize my thoughts. I can take a sprawling idea and have AI break it down step-by-step or suggest the best way to prioritize actions. This has fundamentally changed my approach to problem-solving—things that used to feel overwhelming are now within reach, and I’m learning how to tackle projects more effectively.
Learning to Ask Better Questions
Working with AI has taught me the value of asking the right questions. The quality of what I get from AI depends on how I interact with it, so I’m constantly refining my approach. This habit has strengthened my curiosity, helped me become more precise in my thinking, and equipped me to ask more thoughtful questions—whether I’m talking to AI or a human.
Seeing My Blind Spots
One of the biggest learning opportunities with AI is realizing what I don’t know. When I ask AI to “show me what I’m missing,” it reveals blind spots or factors I hadn’t considered. It’s like having a trusted advisor who’s always there to help me grow. This insight alone is incredibly valuable for personal and professional growth.
Breaking Out of Old Habits
AI challenges me to let go of outdated approaches and embrace new ways of thinking. When I’m tempted to rely on what I already know, AI nudges me to consider alternative approaches, often revealing quicker or more effective methods. I’m not just using AI to “get stuff done”—I’m expanding my mindset, learning, and evolving as I go.
Lifelong Learning, Amplified
AI has made learning faster, richer, and more collaborative. Instead of simply consuming information, I’m actively engaging in an ongoing, dynamic process where I’m constantly building on my skills. It’s no longer just about finding answers; it’s about deepening my understanding and finding new paths forward.
So yes, the learning is very much there—and it’s more powerful than ever. If you’re wondering where AI fits in the learning process, consider this: it’s not about replacing our skills, but amplifying them. It’s a tool that opens us up to endless opportunities for growth, creativity, and innovation.
