New updates from OpenAI DevDay and Microsoft Copilot Vision and Voice

Realtime API will allow you to build speech-to-speech experiences into your applications. Like ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice, but for your own app. 🤯
For those of you who are developing AI capabilities in your company using API, this is big news! They unveiled exciting new updates that are especially useful for businesses exploring AI-driven solutions. The highlight is the Realtime API, which allows developers to integrate AI-powered real-time voice capabilities into apps. This can transform customer service, education, and coaching by enabling lifelike AI voices to handle interactions naturally. Imagine a customer service line where AI assists with calls or a language learning app with interactive conversation capabilities—this API makes that possible.
In addition to the Realtime API, OpenAI introduced Vision Fine-Tuning, allowing developers to use both images and text to improve AI model performance in tasks like visual search and medical analysis. They also launched Model Distillation, making it easier and more cost-effective to use smaller AI models with the same power as larger ones, and Prompt Caching, which cuts costs and speeds up AI responses by 50% through reusing previously processed data.
This rollout will make AI integration more accessible and scalable for businesses of all sizes, allowing for enhanced personalization and customer interactions without compromising on quality or security​.

The update includes new features like Copilot Voice, allowing users to interact with AI using natural speech, and Copilot Vision, enabling the AI to "see" and understand content like web pages and images in real time. These updates aim to make AI more intuitive and accessible, helping users with daily tasks like summarizing news, organizing schedules, or even brainstorming ideas on the go, all while safeguarding privacy and security.
